How to set up the Boyle's Law Apparatus

How to set up the Boyle's Law Apparatus

In the video below, John demonstrates how to refill and set up the Boyle's Law apparatus. The apparatus consists of a reservoir with a Bourdon gauge and a column of gas in a tube. Some of the key features of the Boyle's Law Apparatus include:

  • The apparatus is free standing
  • The calibrated Bourdon gauge reads from 0 - 250kPa
  • The column of gas is mounted behind a safety screen and has clear calibrations to read the volume of the enclosed gas
  • The reservoir is fitted with a bicycle valve so that a simple bicycle pump can be used to increase the pressure
  • The liquid in the column is coloured for visibility
  • The apparatus is supplied with a bicycle pump and adaptor
